news - Fireflies and Figs

undoubtedly the most fantastically unusual place I have ever stayed

press and news

April 2016 – The Times

“Although Rome is just three hours away, Abruzzo is one of Italy’s least-known regions. That’s just fine for the English owners – self professed “foodies” – of this new glamping site, whose two yurts overlook a sleepy valley of vines and orchards. In between lounging on king-size beds, campers can hike in Maiella National Park, buy pecorino cheese and dine on “trabocchi” – ancient stilted piers housing seafood restaurants.”

April 2016 – The Simple Things magazine

“fireflies and figs was born, the vision of cook and food stylist Fern and husband Jono, who found this idyllic spot in Italy’s relatively unknown Abruzzo region.
There are two yurts tucked into the hillside below the couple’s pretty farmhouse, both enjoying breathtaking views of the Majella mountains. Inside it’s easy to forget you’re under canvas with the large comfy bed, crisp linen, chest of drawers, armchair and chic bathroom with outdoor shower.”

September 2015 – Nswana and Anthony – olive blossom

“WOW!!!! What an experience. This is by far the best place to come if you’re after total relaxation, amazing food and drink and incredible views. We stayed for three nights to celebrate my partners 40th birthday and we wish we had stayed longer. Fern and Jono have thought of absolutely everything to make your stay unforgettable.”

June 2015 – Sean – subtle truffle

“In today’s world it’s hard to truly escape and experience authenticity. Fireflies and Figs and the gorgeous region of Abruzzo is unspoilt, magical and good for the soul.”
